Helping People to Help Others

Souper Saturday has been growing steadily over the past two years and during that time we have relied heavily on the generosity of volunteers who give up their Saturdays in order to help to ease the difficulties faces by some of Edinburgh’s most vulnerable people.

We recently decided to go on a new volunteer recruitment drive, and posted two adverts on the Edinburgh Volunteer Centre’s website assuming that we might find two or three interested people.

We had over thirty enquiries in the first two weeks and, so far, a dozen people have signed up as new volunteers with six more due to come for a look around in the coming weeks.

Such has been the enthusiastic response that we had to suspend the adverts two weeks after they were placed!

We’re overwhelmed by the response and it’s amazing to see how many people in Edinburgh are keen and enthusiastic to help out with what we do.

Thanks everyone, you are all amazing!
